Put Legal's Playbook in Everyone's Hands with Playbook Assistant
October 15, 2025

Sales, legal, and finance can keep deals moving - together.

Contract negotiation doesn’t need to be a bottleneck. With the introduction of our Playbook Assistant, Intellistack Streamline CLM brings legal guidance and negotiation logic directly into the document—so business teams can keep deals moving without waiting on legal for every draft.

Playbook Assistant is a new AI-driven tool that accelerates the early stages of contract negotiation by helping to apply your organization’s playbook faster and with more confidence. It is designed to remove the time and pain from one of the most time-consuming tasks in any legal workflow: the first pass through a contract.

You can view the Playbook Assistant like a virtual paralegal or junior attorney. It surfaces suggested redlines directly inside Streamline based on your uploaded contract playbook, helping you quickly spot problem clauses and understand how to address them. Not only are redlines suggested, but rationale is also provided.

One CLM Platform. Now including a Playbook Assistant for smarter contract review.

Most CLM platforms bolt negotiation features onto external tools or restrict access through additional licenses. Playbook Assistant is different. It's fully built into Intellistack Streamline CLM —no separate apps, no toggling between Word, email, or PDFs, and no added cost to Intellistack Streamline CLM customers.

When you open a contract in Intellistack Streamline CLM, Playbook Assistant is right there to:

  • Flag clauses that fall outside company standards
  • Recommend fallback language defined by legal
  • Assign risk levels based on your organization’s rules
  • Explain the "why" behind each suggestion—so business users learn as they go

It’s not just smarter contract review. It’s smarter contract work.

How It Works

AI That Understands What Matters, Not Just What’s Written

Playbook Assistant is powered by Omni, our built-in AI engine. Unlike bolt-on AI tools that only flag text based on patterns, Omni understands the structure, intent, and policy boundaries behind your contracts.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

1. Playbook Rules Set by Legal

Before the first contract is opened, legal teams define what’s acceptable, negotiable, and off-limits. That includes:

  • Required clauses
  • Approved fallback language
  • Risk levels assigned to clauses based on criteria outlined in your playbook (e.g. non-negotiable terms are flagged as high risk)

These inputs create your Playbook, which Omni uses to evaluate drafts that your sales teams wish to send over to customers, and redlines provided by external parties.

2. Omni Flags and Suggests in Real Time

When a document enters the collaboration phase, users can apply the Playbook Assistant with a click. This activates Omni, which then:

  • Scans each clause against your organization’s defined Playbook rules
  • Flags language that falls outside policy or requires further review
  • Recommends pre-approved alternatives, including fallback clauses where available
  • Explains the rationale behind each suggestion so users understand what’s changing—and why

The suggestions show up directly inside the document, using the same word-style tracked change and comment system that users already rely on.

3. AI That Respects Policy and Privacy

Unlike third-party legal AI tools that rely on external models or ingest your data into opaque systems, Omni runs inside the Intellistack Streamline platform. That means:

  • No data leaves your instance for training or third-party processing
  • All document reviews are logged in the audit trail
  • Users can see exactly which rule triggered a suggestion—there’s no “black box” logic

Playbook Assistant doesn’t just recommend redlines. It ensures that every suggestion ties back to a known, documented rule, giving legal teams confidence that automation is being applied appropriately.

From First Draft to Final Approval—Faster and More Consistent

For most teams, the first round of contract review is the slowest. Playbook Assistant helps automate that step by applying your legal guidance the moment a document is created or shared. This allows organizations to:

  • Accelerate first-round reviews, especially for NDAs, MSAs, and vendor agreements
  • Reduce time spent on back-and-forth with business teams who need legal input
  • Enforce consistency across large teams or departments by sticking to pre-approved redline language
  • Empower legal to stay focused on high-value work instead of copy-paste redlines

It’s not about removing legal. It’s about letting them set the rules once—so others can work within them confidently.

This Is the Future of Negotiation. And It’s Just the Beginning.

With Playbook Assistant, Intellistack Streamline CLM doesn’t just shorten review cycles. It gives legal and business teams the same playbook—so collaboration becomes smarter, faster, and more consistent, without ever compromising control.
